John Chabot Hockey Camp Information

John Chabot, an Algonquin from the Kitigan Zibi First Nation, is a former NHL player with over 500 games with organizations such as the Montreal Canadians, Pittsburgh Penguins and the Detroit Red Wings. He was also the Assistant Coach with the New York Islanders for two years.
John is also the host and on-ice instructor for two APTN hockey-focused television programs. “Hockey Goals” is a show devoted to the basics of hockey, and “Hit the Ice” scouts, selects and trains some of the best young Aboriginal hockey talent country-wide and showcases them to evaluators/scouts with the hope of finding their way in the competitive world of Junior and College hockey.
As the Founder and CEO of First Assist Initiative, a NFP that works with youth in fly-in communities in Canada’s north, he is using hockey and sports in general as a teaching tool that combined with education, can create options for our youth that will have a positive effect on their future.
